Non-Establishment of University in Koko: You lied against Fred Martins, group tackles Omo-Agege

Pro-Itsekiri pressure group, Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance, IYGG, says, “Senator Ovie Omo-Agege lied,” when he purportedly stated that the member representing Warri North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Fred Martins, “refused to question Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over non-establishment of University (Campus) in Warri Kingdom, especially in Koko.”

The group in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International in the wee-hours of today, Friday February 24, noted: “It is on record that the governor never established new schools, but upgraded existing schools in the State, to university. This the governor did, by sending an Executive Bill to the House. In 2021, when the Bill was sent to the State House of Assembly, he (Hon. Fred Martins) came out with few others, to present a demand on why Itsekiri Nation (land) should also be considered for a higher institution. He did that by working with some group of Itsekiri youths, such as Itsekiri Liberation Group, Delta State Peace Movement and Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance, among others, to ensure that, if possible, a campus of the University (Campus 2 of Delta State University, Oleh) was sited in Koko or Omadino. Members of his (Omo-Agege’s) party, who came to Asaba can attest to this fact.”

In the statement signed by the Coordinator and Secretary of Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance, Comrade Mone Oris and Eworitse Majemite, respectively, IYGG, asserted: “It is on record that he, Hon. Fred Martins, engaged the governor by appealing to him to site one of the campuses in Koko, because it was an opportunity for the Itsekiri Nation to have a higher institution, since Senator Ovie Omo-Agege had hijacked it by technically stopping the Koko Polytechnic, through the establishment of Orogun Polytechnic, which he, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege hurriedly did, knowing that the Koko Polytechnic had already passed through the Green Chamber, awaiting the Senate to give its approval (concurrence).”

The statement added: “We want to conclude by saying that it is surprising to see a Deputy Senate President, trying to create crisis in the state, he claims he wants to govern. We thought the Senator is enlightened as he claimed, others are not, when last did he question the activities of President Buhari? He that must speak to Itsekiri Nation, should ask himself, if what he is accusing others of, he can do. When governors under on the platform of APC questioned President Buhari over the failed money policy, that has brought Nigerians more suffering, Senator Omo-Agege refused to say anything about the policy. Itsekiri Nation will not vote a man who came to their land to cause crises between two brothers, rather than canvassing for votes and telling Itsekiri why he hijacked the Koko Polytechnic, through the back door, he came to sell lies and exposed his true identity to the Itsekiri Nation.”
