Authorities of Warri South Local Government Council, have tasked the security agencies and other relevant stakeholders, on the need to immediately enforce the Delta State Government’s order, by stopping the collection of all forms of levies, from tricycle and motorcycle Riders in the state.
Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who handed down the task, Monday March 27, noted that the charge became necessary in view of the State Government’s efforts to mitigate the financial burdens transporters and other citizens in the state are undergoing.
Recall that Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, had on March 23, in a government special announcement, stated that, “His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has approved the stoppage of the collection of all forms of levies, from Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders in the state under any guise, until the ongoing review of existing levies and fees is concluded.”
The State Government, consequently directed Tricycle and Motorcycle Riders, not to pay any form of levies to any person or group of persons until further notice.
