There was partial compliance on Tuesday in the strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kogi State over fuel subsidy removal by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu led Federal Government.
It was gathered that, some ministries and parastatals were open while other were under lock and key.
Ministry of Health, Education, Agriculture, Kogi State Secretariat located in Zone Eight Lokoja, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja partially observe the strike.
Meanwhile, bank withing the Lokoja, the Kogi State capital went on with their normally day to day activities attending to customers while customers were cited withdrawing money from Automated Teller Machines, (ATM).
Earlier in a chat with the Kogi State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, he told DAILY POST that members of the union are already out to ensure total compliance with the strike as directed by the national Secretariat.
"Information reaching me from the field indicate that the level of compliance is highly encouraging. Apart from banks in Kogi State, other ministries and institutions complied with the directive of the national Secretariat. I must commend workers in Kogi State and Nigeria at large for standing firm to fight for a just course in our nations history. Together, we will smile as their is light at the end of the tunnel" he stated.
Amari maintained that, the union remains committed to fight the course of workers in Kogi State, an Nigeria in general, adding that, the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government was not only anti people policy but have succeeded in subjecting many Nigerians to perpetual beggars in their own Country.
It could be recalled that, the Nigeria Labour Congress had declared a two day warning strike in the protest against the Federal Government for failing to address the challenges caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.
The labour union also accused the Federal Government of abandoning the negotiations and failing to implement some of the resolutions from previous meetings with the government.
To register their grieviances and displeasure for the world to see over the decision of the Federal Government on fuel subsidy removal, the NLC alongside its sister union, Trade Union Congress, (TUC) on August 2nd 2023 what it described as the anti-people policies of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
