A Delta State High Court 1 sitting in Warri, on Wednesday June 22 granted an interim injunction, restraining the Spiritual Head (Olaojori) of oil-rich Ugborodo Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Priest Benson Dube Omadeli and eight others from conducting any election/swearing-in into the executive positions of Ugborodo Community youth body in order to forestall possible break-down of law and order, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.
Messrs Julius Atete, Victor Igban and Peter Omoabenyi for themselves and on behalf of Ugborodo Community Youth Body had approached the Court as Claimants/Applicants in Suit No: W203/2016 to grant interim order restraining Mr. Benson Dube Omadel (Olaojori of Ugborodo Community) and eight others on behalf of a purported Electoral Committee as well as Mr. Emmanuel Onuwaje and two others for themselves and on behalf of Constitution Review Committee from election/swearing-in of a new executive of Ugborodo Community Youth.
After hearing Counsel to the Claimants/Applicants, A.K. Ibini, the High Court Judge, Hon. Justice P.O. Onajite-Kuejubola declared, “I hereby grant the application for interim injunction order to be made to forestall break-down of law and order. I also grant the order for substituted service and an order restraining the 1-9 defendants, by themselves, privies, agents, cohorts or any person or persons whatsoever from conducting any election/swearing-in into the executive positions of Ugborodo community youths body, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice”.
Justice Onajite-Kuejibola (Mrs.) however stated that the order of interim injunction shall cease and abate after 7 days from the date of the interim injunction (June 22, 2016) and ordered the claimants/applicants to enter a bond in the sum of N1m as surety for costs in the event that the order was frivolously sought.
