A middle aged man, Mr. Anslem Iyere says Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare on Sunday July 23 ordered security men to beat him for daring to ask why his property was destroyed by swamp bogey hired by the state government.
Mr. Anslem who was initially hesitant to speak to press, told Fresh Angle in an exclusive chat in Warri that he had to leave the church when he got hint that his landed property accommodating an abattoir was being demolished on the orders of the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Frank Omare.
According to him, even when he showed the C. of O and other documents confirming the legal approval for acquiring the land, Mr. Omare’s security details assaulted him and his workers, ordering them to sit on the ground after several slaps.
Mr. Iyere wondered why the commissioner spared the Assemblies of God Church extension and its school fence which touched the canal as well as a building opposite the abattoir whose fence also stretches to the canal and destroyed his property which is some meters away from the canal.
He appealed to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to call Mr. Frank Omare to order, stressing that about 70 workers have lost their means of livelihood as a result of the demolition of his abattoir.
Mr. Anslem Iyere’s demolished property is situated at Numa road inside Odibo extension close to Eboh canal in Warri.
Fresh Angle gathered that 15 wheel barrows, more than 100 bags of cement, bore hole, building rods, fish pond, poultry, a generator and other valuables belonging to Mr. Iyere were also destroyed on the orders of Mr. Omare on the guise of clearing canal to check flood in Warri.
