 LGC Vice Chairman assures of enabling environment as firm, community move to develop Industrial Island

 Vice Chairman  of Warri South Local Government Council in Delta State,  Hon. Charlie Etsaghara  has assured an indigenous firm, Finest Investment Limited of an enabling environment in the resolve by the firm to develop Periwinkle Industrial Island in Ukpokiti, a riverine community in Warri South Local Government Area.

 Hon. Charlie Etsaghara gave the assurance on Sunday August 14 during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, MoU between Finest Investment Limited and Ukpokiti Community.

He used the occasion to call on other investors to take advantage of the peaceful environment in Warri South riverine and upland communities to invest in the area.

Chairman of Finest Investment Nigeria Limited, Olorogun Atuyota Ejughemre in a remark assured that the proposed Periwinkle Industrial Island will accommodate all facets of industry, even as he bemoaned lack of access roads and electricity in the host community as some of the challenges his firm would have to contend with in the quest to develop the Industrial Island

According to him, a 7.1 billion naira contract awarded by the NDDC for the construction of road and access bridge to the host community, Ukpokiti in 2010 is yet to see the light of the day because the contractor in charge of the job allegedly collected 15 percent mobilization and abandoned it.

Olorogun Ejughemre disclosed that the proposed Periwinkle Industrial Island to be sited in over 3,000 acres of land will include housing estates, manufacturing industries, technology-driven companies and other forms of investment to be determined by intending investors from United States, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Managing Director of Finest Investment, Hon. Abel Oshevire while stressing that the era of crude oil boom was over, enjoined other investors to emulate his firm in the quest to diversify the economy of Delta State.

He commended Ukpokiti Community for the successful signing of the MoU and appealed for conducive working environment to make the multi billion naira project realizable.

In his remark, Chairman of Ukpokiti Working Committee, Dr. Israel Abido praised the firm for investing in the community and assured that people of Ukpokiti will corporate at all times to ensure the project becomes a reality.
