About five Mobile Policemen attached to City of Refuge Church along Airport Road, Warri at about 8:15 am today Thursday September 8 apprehended three suspected armed robbers in an attempt to rob two passengers in a tricycle purportedly belonging to the suspects.
Our Correspondent reports that one of the passengers (male) in the tricycle which was heading towards the Airport Road junction from the Angle Park Axis, raised alarm when he suspected that the tricycle rider is an armed robber.
According to the other passenger, a female (name unknown) the driver of the tricycle led them to two other members of his gang who stationed themselves, wielding gun and knife. The supposed commercial tricycle rider stopped the tricycle, pretending he wanted to get something on sighting his gang members. The tricycle rider allegedly told his two passengers he wanted to buy something along the road, when suddenly the other two members of the three man gang emerged from the opposite street and threatened to kill the two passengers if they don’t co-operate. On sensing danger, the male passenger raised alarm when he saw a Mobile Policeman close by and yelled for help.
Fresh Angle International gathered that on sighting the Mobile Policeman, the driver of the tricycle attempted to run away, leaving the other two members of his gang, but was caught by the Mobile Policeman who shot into the air, thus attracting other Mobile Policemen around. The Mobile Policemen apprehended both the tricycle driver as well as the other two members of the gang.
