The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, Chairmen of Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema and Mrs. Stella Otiotio Daboner respectively, Pioneer Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Chief Otimeyin Adams and Veteran Journalist, Mr. Shola Adebayor have been honoured for their “selfless services to peaceful co-existence” by the International Association of Lions Club, District 404 AI Nigeria.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that they were conferred with the award during the grand finale/banquet held by District 404 AI of Lions Club at Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State as part of the District 3rd Convention which took place in Warri and Effurun.
The District Governor of 404 AI, Lions Club International, Dr. Ayodele Ajayi in a remark praised the awardees for their contributions toward the betterment of humanity, noting that government alone cannot take up the responsibility of societal development.
While stating that the ability to give little of one’s time and resources is what it takes to be a Lion, Lion (Dr.) Ajayi enjoined the awardees to continually do more to better the society.
Dr. Ayodele Ajayi disclosed to Fresh Angle International in an exclusive chat that Effurun/Warri Lions Club under region 9 has executed legacy projects worth over N45million in Warri and Effurun.
Chairman of the Convention Organizing Committee and member of Effurun/Warri Lions Club, Mrs. Fortune Wagbatsoma listed the projects executed by the Effurun/Warri Lions Club to include construction of six blocks of toilet/water boreholes, building and completion of water borehole at Mopol Base, Ogunu Road, Warri, installation of Video in classroom at Olodi Primary School, Warri, commissioning of water project at Otomewo community as well as the feeding of over 300 women.
She described the 3rd Convention as one of the best ever organized by the district and commended Lion Ajayi, other top officials of Lions Club as well as members of Lions Club in Effurun/Warri for their support and commitment.
