Gunmen abduct four LG workers

Unknown gunmen have abducted four Local Government workers along Kabba Obajana Road in Kogi State, Our Kogi State Correspondent reports.

The four Local Government workers: Mr. Olu Abraham, Fehintola Osho, Balogun Blessing and the HOD of Works, Ayo Ola, all staff of Mopa Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State were on their way to Lokoja, the State Capital for the Appeal Committee's screening when they were reportedly abducted, Tuesday January 31 and Wednesday February 1.

The abduction of the four Civil Servants was brought to the fore Wednesday February 1 in the Kogi State House of Assembly by the member representing Mopa Muro Constituency in the State Legislature, Honourable Obaro Sunday Pedro when he moved a motion on the problems of insecurity in the state.

He stressed the problem of insecurity in the State was escalating and opined that the deplorable state of Obajana Kabba Road has made it a hideout for kidnappers.

The Lawmaker explained, "just yesterday (Tuesday January 31) in broad day light, the HOD  Works of Mopa Muro Local Government Area while on her way to Lokoja to collect her statement of account with Access Bank over the ongoing screening exercise fell into the hands of kidnappers and her destination is presently not known. This morning (Wednesday February 1) around 9:45am along the same Kabba Obajana, I was informed that three staff members of Mopa Muro Local Government Area were Kidnapped, the driver and my Personal Assistant who were eye witnesses narrowly escaped."

The State House of Assembly passed a unanimous resolution, calling on the State government to immediately deploy sufficient security personnel along Obajana Kabba Road and ensure a 24-hour patrol along other roads within the state.

The House also directed the House Committee  on Security  and Judiciary  to liaise with the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Chafe to work out proactive measures  to tackle insecurity in the state.
