Two popular PDP Warri South Chairmanship aspirants, Barr. Esimaje Vincent Awani and Comrade Louis Monoyo Edon, have distanced themselves from the open endorsement of Mr. Weyinmi Agbateyiniro by Dr. Toyin Agbolayah, Mr. Emiko Oghomienor, Mr. Emma Nunu, Chief Jude Igherebuo, Hon. (Dr.) Mavis Onojowho, Hon. (Chief) Glory Ayiwe, Mr. Ofoyeju Izuagie, Hon. Gabriel Oritsemofe and Pst. Olisanmi Omasan Edukugho.

While speculations are rife that Barr. Esimaje Awani, enjoys the backing of the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Comrade Louis Monoyo Edon, is said to be the preferred choice of the newly coronated Delta South PDP leader and former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Barr. Awani, who put a quick call through to Fresh Angle International, on hearing of the endorsement of Mr. Agbateyiniro by some of his fellow contestants, declared that nothing has changed, as far as his chairmanship ambition for Warri South Local Government Area is concerned.

He urged members of his campaign team and supporters to remain focused, advising members of the public not to be carried away with the reported endorsement of Mr. Agbateyiniro.

Comrade Monoyo Edon, in a social media post this afternoon, Thursday May 23, stated: “I have been inundated with calls and messages from well-meaning members of the public about a purported meeting where all aspirants in the race to the Warri South Chairmanship seat were alleged to have stepped down for an aspirant. I would like to state unequivocally that, I, Louis Monoyo Edon, was not privy to such meeting and was not invited for such “Get Together”.

“The PDP has Executive and elders who are only saddled to call such meeting of all aspirants ahead of the primary on Saturday, 25 May, 2024.

“As stipulated by our party guidelines, I am following directives contained in the Timetable leading up to the elections.

“I have not heard otherwise from my party leadership. I am using this opportunity to encourage my brave and teeming supporters to remain focused on our campaign as I am very much in the race.

“Thank you for your unalloyed support thus far and by God’s grace, we will secure the nod of our leaders and stakeholders. Greater Warri Project, W A R R I N O R G O S P O I L F O R O U R H A N D.”
