Ambassador, Youth for Human Rights’ International, United Nations, Young Piero says the target of distributing 100,000 booklets on human rights to Niger Delta youths of ages 12-26 is geared towards educating them on their rights as entrenched in the 1948 UN resolution on human rights as well as creating a better understanding of peaceful co-existence and freedom of association.

Ambassador Piero who gave the explanation Monday February 13 at Ubeji in Warri, shortly after distributing 1, 000 of the UN Rights booklet to students of Ubeji Grammar School and Best Group of Schools in Ubeji, both in Warri South Local Government Area and St. Cyprain School, Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, explained that the essence of reaching out to young people of school age is to impact leadership skills to them so as to build their capacity towards Nation building.

He said, “I spoke and educate over 3,000 young people in different locations on Nation building in Delta State and gave out 1,000 copies of ‘What Are Human Rights’ Booklets’.

While appealing to Nigeria leaders to give opportunity for younger generation to serve in leadership positions, Ambassador Piero added, “those who can assist in this project should go ahead and print booklets as well as T-Shirts to be distributed to the young ones as part of effort to build the younger minds”.

According to him, giving opportunity to younger ones to serve in office of higher responsibility will help to enhance peace and development in Niger Delta.

He disclosed that so far, they have distributed the rights’ booklets in Delta and Cross Rivers States with plans in place to extend the programme to other Niger Delta States.

Responding, the Head Teacher of St. Cyprain Schools, Victor Roland commended the UN Youth Ambassador for the enlightenment lecture and booklets’ donation.
