Advisory Against Protest: Agbateyiniro commends stakeholders, discloses plan to roll out human capital, infrastructural development programmes

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Weyinmi Isaac Agbateyiniro, has commended traditional leaders, opinion moulders, political leaders, activists, members of the comrade communities, fourth estate of the realm, women leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, student leaders and security agencies in Warri South, for honouring his advisory against protest.

Fresh Angle International, can report that the Warri South Local Government Chief Security Officer, gave the commendation Monday August 5, during a presser held in Warri, Delta State.

Whilst noting that to the amazement of those, “who had always wanted Warri to be in the negative radar of news at all times,” the directive to shun the protest, “was significantly complied with,” Comr. Agbateyiniro, disclosed: “In matter of days, after we regularise formally and properly, we shall roll out our massive human capital and Infrastructural developmental programmes to cater for our youths, students, widows, people living with disabilities, traders and of course our environment.”

He emphasized: “Whilst chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) unequivocally guarantees peaceful protest and other fundamental human rights, section 45 of the same Constitution confers on government at all levels, through the invocation of the doctrine of derogation, the authority of interference with such rights in the overriding interest of the public,  if it anticipated or envisaged  that through the expression of such rights, public peace, security and safety will be breached.

“After an exhaustive engagement of critical stakeholders and juxtaposing same with how the 2020 ENDSARS protest ended, prior to the announced date of the commencement of the protest, we resolved and proclaimed that this protest was not needed in Warri South Local Government Area and expectedly, we emplaced relevant machineries to ensure compliance.

“To democratically sustain this, a more organized and civilized channel, was established for the organizers of the protest to reach out to the relevant authorities with their demands, without necessarily distorting peace, security, law and order in this local government area.

“This feat, nay this mark, is not only unprecedented, it is also unequaled and unparalleled.  We hope to jealousy guide and sustain it. This is the spirit of ‘the Warri will be great again’, that we have repeatedly echoed.

“It is in this spirit that we will together achieve growth, development, commerce, industrialization, job creation and employment, peace and security.

“We hope to deploy same to take Warri to where it ought to be.

“As a responsible and responsive government at this grassroots level, this is all we promised and are poised to achieve. The singular reason for which we set up the investment and Warri brand committees.

“If Warri must be great again, there is no other path of honour to follow than this.”
