NAIG laud FG over renewed interest in $20 billion GRIP in Delta

The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG has laud the Federal Government over renewed interest of the Gas Revolution Industrial Park, GRIP, Ogidigben, Delta State, valued at about $20 billion and projected to provide about 250 jobs for Nigeria Youths.

The association hopes the meeting of the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo with the International Developers and Investors on Monday February 27 at the Presidential Villa will accelerate the kick starting of the project soonest.

NAIG appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government in finding a lasting peace to Niger Delta crisis through sustenable projects like the GRIP, but insisted that issues on ownership of the land where the Nigeria Maritime University, NMU Okerenghigho is sited should be seriously addressed without political undertone so as not to undermine the peace process.

President of the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, Comrade Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema NAIG use this opportunity to strongly condemn the alleged indiscriminate dumping of Toxic Waste in Koko by Ebenco Nigeria Limited.

According to him, “laboratory analysis has shown that the alleged sludge being dumped by Ebenco Nigeria Limited in Koko is not only Carcinogenic but Toxic, and hence dangerous to both agricultural produce and aquatic life in Koko town.

We frown at this level of irresponsibility from  Ebenco Nigeria Limited, and call on the management of the company to urgently address this issue, carry out soil remediation on the affected soil, and pay compensation to the people whose land have been polluted by the waste so as not to face any action from NAIG.

We wish to inform both the management of Ebenco and the general public that the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG will take legal actions against the company, and any other person culpable should they fail to do the needful”.
