Sanitation: Warri South Committee makes waste bin compulsory for commercial drivers, to slam N50,000 fine on owners of private vehicles


Warri Brand Committee, has made it compulsory for commercial buses and tricycles operating in Warri South Local Government Area ,to carry the authorized waste bin of the Council, as part of concerted efforts to sanitize the local government and attract investments.                                  

 

Chairman of Warri Brand Committee, Dr. Mavis Onojeghwo, who made the disclosure in a statement released in Warri, weekend, urged owners of commercial buses and tricycles to go to the nearest Zenith Bank branch to pay five thousand naira (N5,000.00) into Warri South Local Government Council IGR account, to enable them collect receipt and the authorized waste bins from Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri.                                 

 

Whilst noting that the designated Zenith Bank account number is 1011148019, Dr. Onojeghwo, declared: " The Council's Special Taskforce, will commence operation show your waste disposal bin and receipt of payment from Monday October 28, 2024."                           

 

According to the Warri Brand Committee Chairman, the Special Taskforce, has spread its dragnet to apprehend private vehicle owners dumping refuse on the road, saying anyone caught will pay fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) fine.                          

 

Dr. Onojeghwo, asserted that the task of a cleaner Warri, is a shared responsibility between Warri South Local Government Council, business owners and residents of the local government area.
