Kogi State Security Trust fund presents refurbished vehicles to Police, NSCDC, NUJ


In a bid to sustain the fight against crimes and criminalities in Kogi State, the Kogi State Security Trust fund has presented refurbished vehicles to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police, including the the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ).
 
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the State Government also presented 15 motorcycles brand new motorcycles to the Department of State Security Services, (DSS) to wipe out criminal elements in the State.
 
Presenting the keys to the various security outfits in Lokoja on Thursday, the Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust fund, Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare disclosed that the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has presented over 120 operational vehicles to various security agencies in the State.
 
 
According to the chairman, when the present administration came on board, they observed that there were a lot of challenges on the operational vehicles of security agencies in the State hence the need to intervene to enable them carry out their duties effectively.
 
His words "The People's Servant in Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has mandated us to do the best we could do on security for the People of our dear State. When we assumed office, the government observed the challenges of security agencies operational vehicles and we decided to swing into action by sourcing for funds to refurbished them.
 
"Also, the present administration has provided logistic support for our security agencies in Kogi State. When we came on board, the Executive Governor gave us a matching order to acquire  motorcycles. From history and experience, most of this criminals are not in the main town, they are in the interior part of the villages. 
 
"That is why we have purchased over 200 motorcycle for security agencies in the State. We have also refurbished over 120 operational vehicles for Police, NSCDC, hunters, Vigilantes, and what is just remaining now is the Nigeria Army. By the special grace of God, we are going present that of the Nigeria Army for the public to see.
 
 
He appreciated Governor Ododo for releasing funds for the agency, stressing that the onslaught against criminals in Kogi State is on course.
 
Responding to this laudable gesture, the Kogi State Commandant,  Nigeria Civil Defence Corp, (NSCDC) who was represented by the Deputy Commandant Abdullahi Ademola Bello assured the government that the refurbished vehicles  will be used for the purpose it was present to the command.
 
The Commandant appreciated Governor Ododo for prioritizing security in the State noting that Kogi State will never be a safe haven for criminals.
 
In his remarks, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ)  Kogi State Council, Alhaji Seidu Ademu Haruna lauded the good work of Kogi State Security Trust fund over the years.
 
He recalled that the refurbished NUJ bus in Kogi State has been down over the years before it was resuscitated by the present administration.
 
Alhaji Haruna assured of more synergy between the  Government and working journalists in Kogi State.
 
 
" This is highly commendable and is a welcome development. Words alone can not express my profound gratitude to the Kogi State Security Trust fund for carrying us along in their programmes. I would recall that the present Executive of NUJ came for a courtesy visit to the office of the Chairman, Kogi State Security Trust fund and we tabled some of our issue among which is lack of operational vehicle for working journalists.
 
" It wasn't up to four days, I got a call from the office that our bus is among those that will be refurbished. This bus has been parked in one place for over eight years. This is a dream come through for all of us in the State. Am assuring the Kogi State Security Trust fund of more synergy with working journalists in achieving their goals in Kogi State" he stated.
