As part of measures to keep the city of Warri clean, the Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board, Hon. Mofe Matthew Edema today vowed that it's going to be tough for PSPs in the State, especially in Warri South Local Government Area as from January 2025.
Hon. Edema spoke at an interactive meeting organized by the Office of the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Femi Okorodiden.
The former Warri South Local Government Chairman who was represented by Michael Esegba, Director (Operations) at the Waste Management Board said many of the PSPs in Warri South Local Government Area are not doing their work but they go about collecting monies from members of the public.
He said: "Let me tell you, that you cover this zone, it's not your inheritance. Hon. Edema also warned that,"Once you're not working, we are going to take it from you". According to Hon. Edema,"
So, let it be at the back of your mind that as from January, we want to drop some PSPs. We want to see PSPs that are ready to work. We want to see PSPs that will go to dump sites to dump their refuse.
We want to see PSPs working on daily, weekly basis so that the environment can be clean.
"While we assist you to get your money, you must do your job to keep the environment clean." The Supervisor for Environment in Warri South Local Government Council, Hon. Femi Okorodiden said the taskforce on Environment is the priority of the Council just as he said the PSPs and the various Communities in the Council area have a lot work to do in this regard."

Hon. Okorodiden urged the community leaders present at the meeting to convey the message of the Warri South Council to their people by educating/sensitizing them on the need to keep their environment clean.
He stressed: "The time has come for Warri to be back again. But we are looking for investors in Warri South and by the Special grace of God, God will bring investors for Warri South in Jesus Name."
Hon. Okorodiden commended the Head of Department (Environment) in Warri South Local Government Council, Mode Stella Omosibo for her supports to him from the date he assumed office as supervisory Councillor, Environment saying, he had achieved a lot in the area of training in the Council area.
Hon. Okorodiden said they have cleared the drainages in Okumagba Avenue, Plaza, Amaforitse, Cinema, Upper Erejuwa, Odibo, Ogboru, Igbudu, Cemetery road, Pessu market and others within Warri South Local Government Area.
He added: "By the grace of God, we are going to speed into action for the Phase II of the canal clearing." He noted that the Warri South Council Chairman, Hon. Isaac Weyinmi Agbateyiniro have put a template for the clearing of the canals in place.

He said,"From now till February ending of 2025, those who travel to diaspora, when they return from diaspora, they will know that Warri is in a new shape.
Hon. Okorodiden also commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori for conducting a credible and fair election through the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC wherein the Warri South Council Chairman, Hon. Agbateyiniro won the election by defeating his opponents in other political parties to emerge as chairman of the Council.
"In all, I must say a very big thank you to the Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for doing this." Hon. Okorodiden assured that Warri must be back because the Council Chairman,Hon. Agbateyiniro is doing his best possible to ensure that the environment is kept clean at all cost.
The HOD, Environment in Warri South, Mode Stella Omosibo, Jitokun Patience, Supervisor Warri Field Office, Waste Management Board, Oberhiri Victor, Supervisor, Waste Management Board, Oguori-Okodaso Ejiro, Assistant Director of Environment/Health,Delta State Waste Management Board, Efekoha Joy Favour, Supervisor attached to the Environmental Supervisor Warri South Local Government, Ofoyeju Iziagie, Hon. Bojor Lucky, Chairman, PSP, Warri South Local Government Area and Mr. Influence Obabokor, Spokesman, Agbassa Community all made suggestions to the Warri environment as well as improve on their jobs as they appealed for financial and moral supports from the Government.
High Points of the brief meeting was the inauguration of the Task Force on Environment.
