The Managing Director/ CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has announced that project commissioning will resume in February 2025, with a focus on significant initiatives in the Niger Delta region.
Key projects include multi-purpose emergency shelters in Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers states, intended to provide relief for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) during flooding.
Ogbuku emphasised the NDDC's commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting the successful commissioning of various projects since the inauguration of the current NDDC board and assuring that funding is secured for future developments.
Ogbuku outlined the NDDC’s comprehensive plans to complete ongoing projects, which include roads, bridges, and healthcare facilities.
He stressed the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to drive regional development, noting recent achievements such as the commissioning of significant roads, such as the 27.5km Ogbia-Nembe Road and the electrification project in Okitipupa, Ondo State, that has brought power to previously underserved areas.
Ogbuku expressed gratitude for stakeholders' support and reiterated that the NDDC would always complement state government efforts rather than compete with them to enhance the overall development of the Niger Delta region.
