The Kogi State Government has debunked reports making the round from some section of the media that it is demanding N10,000 from Teachers before they can be confirmed as employees of the State Government.
The Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday and signed by Dr. Aisha Mohammed Atojoko, the Board Secretary, described the story alleging demand of money from teachers seeking confirmation as a figments of mischief makers.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that he Statement reads in part "If the State Government could recruit Teachers without asking for a dime during the process, having been engaged and have worked for two years, the issue of confirmation is their right".
"The present administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo is one resolved in making life meaningful for citizens. This he has demonstrated with the payment of N72,000 minimum wage across board".
" The Teachers in Kogi State have never had it so good like is presently obtained under the administration of Gov Ododo, one therefore will wonder the intention of the mischief makers and political detractors".
"The Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board, under the leadership of Dr. Habiba Suleiman, as Executive Chairman, since assumption of office, made the plans and policies of Gov. Ododo as envisioned for secondary education, a top priority. It is therefore laughable and illogical for anyone who is scared of the ongoing repositioning by the KGSSEB Board Chairman to want to bring the name of the State Government into disrepute".
" We therefore use this medium to call on the Teachers and the general public to disregard the malicious information by naysayers. The Confirmation of staff in the civil service, having shown diligence and met the due process, is free and no amount is demanded".
" We have however called on the security agencies and others concerned to be on the look out for anyone who may be parading himself as a staff of Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board or otherwise with the intention to defraud members of the discerning public for arrest and prosecution.
"We urge the Teachers and the general public to disregard the malicious publication titled: "Kogi Governor Ododo's Administration Demands N10,000 Fee From Teachers Seeking Confirmation Letters" and rely on official communications only from Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board and the Kogi State Government for accurate information".
