Coalition of Itsekiri youth-based pressure groups, have assured the new Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Engr. Bayo Ojulari of support, saying the leadership of Mele Kyari, was marked by controversy.
The youth groups, in an electronic statement made available to Fresh Angle International, Thursday April 3, appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what they described as his strategic decision to appoint seasoned technocrats into the reconstituted board of NNPCL.
The statement, which was e-signed by Sam Oki Metsh for Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance, IYGG, Prince Temisan Philip for Delta Peace Movement (DPM) Itsekiri chapter, Lily-white O. Esigbone, President, Itsekiri Youths Elites, IYE, Comr. Gbubemi Awala, Chairman, Itsekiri Interest Group, IIG, Silva Samuel Maku, Secretary of Itsekiri Historical Front, IHF, Matthew Ighiogio, Chairman of Itsekiri Freedom Congress, IFC and Ogharandukun Toritseju Joseph, Chairman of Iwere Mentorship forum, noted: “ We also appreciate President Bola Tinubu for this strategic decision, as well as the appointment of Ahmadu Musa Kida as the non-executive chairman.
“As key stakeholders in the oil-producing regions, we assure the new GCEO of our full support in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of his duties, particularly as they pertain to resources from Itsekiri land.
“The Itsekiri Nation and Warri Kingdom—recognized as the second-largest producer of crude oil in Nigeria—warmly welcome Engr. Ojulari and look forward to collaborating with him on innovative initiatives that will drive progress in the industry.
“Furthermore, we acknowledge President Tinubu’s leadership in making this change. The tenure of the previous GCEO, Mele Kyari, was marked by controversy, prompting widespread calls for his removal to enhance the efficiency and growth of the nation’s oil sector.
“We appreciate the President for heeding these concerns and taking decisive action to propel Nigeria’s oil production to greater heights.
“Once again, we extend our best wishes to Engr. Ojulari and look forward to a fruitful and transformative era under his leadership.”
