Following the failure of Delta State Ministry of Environment, Delta State Waste Management Board, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, local government councils and other relevant government agencies to rid major towns in Delta State of embarrassing refuse on the streets, a new waste management strategy that will see local refuse management vendors clean up the state has begun.

Already the state waste management board has in a press statement directed interested refuse disposal vendors to resister with the environment departments of the various councils with a view to zoning the waste management for effectiveness.

Fresh Angle checks reveal that the new approach which have attracted wide interest from local refuse management firms is expected to clean up major towns like Warri, Effurun, Ughelli, Sapele and Asaba which has become an eye sore and there are indications that several of the firms are jostling to register with the various councils, particularly in areas that are densely populated.
