The Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, has waded in as Abigborodo women in Warri North Local Government Area, protest alleged marginalization by Seplat Energy.
The protesting woman, led by Patience and the Women’s Wing Secretary, Felicia Koma, told the President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, Comr. Appearance Afejuku, Monday December 15, during the protest that indigenes of Abigborodo don’t benefit anything from Seplat Energy.
According to the women, they have been protesting consistently against the perceived marginalization, but the company refused recognizing them as host community.
The women leader, Patience, told Afejuku: “Seplat has been working in Abigborodo community for many years now, they have not been reasoning this community.
“Them never give any of our pikin work, this issue has been on since 5years. We want peace and they should give what belong to Caesar to Caesar.”
The INYC President, Comr. Afejuku, promised to escalate the demand of the women, saying the Itsekiri Youth body, will not tolerate marginalization of Itsekiri people by companies operating in Itsekiri land.
