As the protest against Chevron Nigeria Limited and its JV partner, NNPCL, enters day three, Wednesday December 17, vocal Itsekiri female group, Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, has outlined formula for implementation of Local Content Act, to avoid conflict between Itsekiri host communities and the oil/gas majors.
The group, in a series of feeds made available to Fresh Angle International, Wednesday December 17, put forward a formula of 100 percent for unskilled workers from host community, 60 percent for skilled workers from host community, 40 percent managerial jobs for indigenes of host community and 30 percent of all contracts for local contractors in host community.
President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, Mrs. Vivian Mene, told This Newspaper in a telephone chat that they ought to be Community Liaison Officers to monitor the operations of Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil and gas companies operating in Warri Kingdom.
Whilst assuring that Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative, will join hands to make sure that relationship with the oil and gas companies and their host communities are gotten right, Mrs. Mene, stressed: “Only Ogiame Atuwatse III can NEGOTIATE For Ugborodo Community, We Are Just Protesters.”
