The leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, has raced to the Chevron facility in the Olero Field axis in Warri North Local Government Area, where Olero Creek Oil Field Communities, earlier Tuesday December 23 began shut down operations of Chevron Nigeria Limited, over perceived neglect by the company as well as the Federal and Delta State Governments.
President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, Comr. Appearance Afejuku, who led the INYC team to the facility, called on the federal, Delta State governments as well as the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, to urgently address the demands put forward by the protesters.
Comr. Afejuku, mentioned the demands to include; construction of internal road network and housing estate, construction of modern healthcare facilities, time-bound plan for electricity and potable water, fair employment policy, prioritizing Olero indigenes, adherence to the recently signed policy on contract by the Federal Government, which priorities the patronage of Host Communities Contractors and dredging of creeks to make some of the communities more accessible.
The Olero Creek Oil Field Communities in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, as early as 6.00am today, begun shut down operations of Chevron Nigeria Limited in the field, over perceived neglect by the company as well as the Federal and Delta State Governments.
