The people of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have cried out over what they described as years of neglect, following the complete deterioration of the only federal road linking the agrarian community to neighbouring towns and major economic centres.
Residents lamented that the road, which serves as the community's primary access route, has become virtually impassable due to severe damage caused by years of neglect and the continuous movement of heavy-duty trailers and lorries.
According to them, the situation has now reached a critical stage, leaving commuters, farmers, traders and other road users stranded.
Community members noted that alternative link roads connecting Ebu to neighbouring communities have remained cut off for decades, making the federal road the only viable route for transportation and economic activities.
With the road now in a deplorable condition, residents fear the community may become completely isolated.
They expressed concern over the hardship being faced by farmers who depend on the road to transport their produce to markets, warning that the situation could worsen food insecurity and negatively impact the local economy.
Residents questioned why Ebu Community has continued to suffer neglect despite its contributions to the state's agricultural sector and the nation's economy. What offence has Ebu Community committed?" many residents asked, urging the Federal Government, the Delta State Government and relevant agencies to urgently intervene before the situation deteriorates further.

The community appealed for immediate rehabilitation of the failed sections of the road and the reconstruction of abandoned link roads to restore accessibility, facilitate economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents.
As the rainy season intensifies, fears are mounting that the road may become completely unusable, further cutting off the community from the rest of the state unless urgent action is taken.
