Award of Ilo-Ebu Palace Road Project Renews Hope as Community Appeals for Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road

Residents of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the construction of the Ilo-Ebu/Palace Road, describing the project as a major step towards addressing years of neglect and infrastructural decay in the community.

Community leaders and residents said the road project has renewed hope among the people, who for decades have lamented their exclusion from major development initiatives despite being an integral part of Delta State.

According to them, the approval of the Ilo-Ebu/Palace Road has opened a new chapter for the community and demonstrated the governor’s commitment to extending the dividends of democracy to rural areas under his MORE Agenda.

While commending Governor Oborevwori for the intervention, residents noted that Ebu still faces serious infrastructural challenges that require urgent government attention.

They explained that the major road linking Ebu to neighbouring Ezi and Ukala communities has been cut off due to years of deterioration, making movement difficult for residents, farmers, traders and other road users. The situation, they said, has worsened during the current rainy season, leaving many parts of the community virtually inaccessible.

The people also lamented the deplorable condition of the federal road serving the area, stressing that the poor state of the road network has continued to hinder economic activities and social interactions within and outside the community.

According to community stakeholders, many residents now face difficulties transporting agricultural produce to markets, while access to healthcare, education and other essential services has become increasingly challenging.

They appealed to Governor Oborevwori to extend ongoing development efforts to the reconstruction of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road, describing the project as critical to the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.

The residents expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership and appealed for sustained intervention in road infrastructure, noting that the completion of the Ilo-Ebu/Palace Road and rehabilitation of other strategic roads would significantly improve living conditions and reconnect the community to neighbouring towns.

They reaffirmed their support for the state government and urged authorities not to lose sight of Ebu's developmental needs, emphasizing that the community still requires considerable attention to overcome years of neglect and isolation.
