The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has told members of Njiko AniochaOshimili that the success of the group will depend on their strength.
Governor Okowa, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Inter -Government Affairs, Rt. Hon. Sam Obi, stated this May 27during the cultural festival of the group held at Oshimili South Arcade, Asaba.
Dr. Okowa advised that they should open up admission process into the group so that others that are not involved presently can join them.
He said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the objectives for which the group was formed are realised.
The Senator representing Delta North in the Senate, Senator Barrister Peter Nwaobosi, had said that he will continue to identify with the noble ideas of Njiko AniomaOshimili.
Senator Nwaoboshi thanked the convener of the group, Chief Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN), for his doggedness and vision, but cautioned him that some people from the area will not support the group.
Senator Nwaoboshi said that it will be a thing of joy if the cultural festival is made an annual event as it will go a long way in helping to preserve our rich cultural heritage.
The Convener of Njiko AniochaOshimili, Chief Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN), in his remarks expressed the body's appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for staying throughout the duration of the Economic and Investment Summit on Friday and sending a worthy representative in the person of Rt. Hon. Sam Obi for the cultural festival.
The member representing Aniocha/Oshimili in the House of Representatives, Hon. Onyemaechi Mrakpor, had earlier said that the colourful outfits on display at the arena was an eloquent testimony of the rich cultural heritage of the people of the area.
Different cultural groups from different communities in the four local government areas that make up the body entertained guests who came to witness the ceremony.
Highlights of the ceremony were the inauguration of Njiko AniochaOshimili and presentation of royal gift to the state governor, which was received on his behalf by his wife, Dame Edith Okowa.
