Security: We’II stick to our constitutional responsibility, NAF stresses

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Mashall Sadique B Abubakar has stressed that the Nigerian Air Force will continue to live up to its constitutional responsibility of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria, acknowledging that the country is presently going through complex security situations requiring robust system to motivate military personnel.

Air Mashal Abubakar made the declaration Wednesday May 31at Jeddo in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, while commissioning 10 apartments built for Non-Commissioned Officers and four Single Officers’ quarters.

The Air Force Chief who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, NAF headquarters, Abuja, Air Vice Marshal James M Gbum, noted that the commissioning of the accommodation for officers and Air Men signifies NAF’s commitment towards fulfilling the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

While noting that it was part of a deliberate policy to meet the welfare needs of security personnel in the determination to tackle security challenges, the NAF Boss thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly for approving the 2016 budget which made the projects realizable.

He disclosed that the command deployed direct labour of its personnel in the construction of the projects, thus saving resources and improving “the technical know-how of our in-house personnel”.

The Ove of Umiagwa Abraka Kingdom, Air Vice Marshal Lucky Ararile (Rtd) expressed optimism that with the increasing presence of Air Force in Warri Area, the aesthetics of the environment will be enhanced and thanked members of NAF for their sacrifice towards safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country.

While acknowledging that almost all parts of the country are facing security challenges, the Delta Monarch admonished the military to remain dedicated, loyal and professional in defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

Our Correspondent reports that the new Commander of 371 Nigerian Air Force Detachment Warri, Air Commodore Yakubu Dabo Daniel received the Air Force delegation from Abuja at Osubi Airstrip at exactly 1:25 pm and led them to Jeddo for the commissioning of the apartments.
