Delta Poll: Cleric eyes Udu Chairmanship position
Rev. Fred Arutere

The Minister in-Charge of God’s Covenant Christian Assembly and Legal Practitioner, Rev. Fred Arutere has joined the Udu Local Government Area Chairmanship race, with a vow to assist in the resuscitation of Delta Steel Company, DSC if given the mandate by Udu people to lead the Local Government in the forthcoming Delta State Local Government election.

Rev. Arutere who made the vow Thursday August 24 at Udu in a chat with select-Newsmen, said he will bring the experience he garnered while living in Houston Texas, USA to bear in the administration of Udu Local Government Area, so as to take the Council to its rightful place in terms of infrastructural development.

The Cleric who was former Transition Committee Member in Udu Local Government Council and ex-member of Delta State Sports Committee, described Governor Okowa’s SMART agenda as similar to what is obtainable in Houston Texas.

He assured Udu people of quality leadership if elected the next Council Boss and promised improved deal for the traditional institution in Udu.

According to him, construction of new markets, re-organization of existing ones and creation of enabling environment for investors will be given the pride of place, even as strategy will be put in place to increase IGR of Udu Local Government Council.

While promising to create jobs through agriculture for Udu youths, the PDP Chieftain stated that the challenge among Local Government Councils in Delta State is mismanagement of funds, not lack of it.

He called on PDP leaders and other stakeholders in Udu to give him the mandate to move the Local Government forward.
