I was not hit by stroke, Uduaghan clears the air


Contrary to rumour that made the rounds in Delta State about three weeks ago that Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan was struck with stroke and was flown abroad  for medical treatment, the governor on Sunday May 26 at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service held at Flock of Christ Mission, Effurun in commemoration of the 2013 democracy day & 2nd Anniversary of his 2nd term in office said  “it is unfair for people to carry all sorts rumour regarding his health.

According to the governor, while some said he was on a wheel chair, others speculated he was flown in air ambulance abroad as a result of stroke.
Dr. Uduaghan disclosed before the large crowd that he had health challenges  a few weeks ago, but noted that contrary to speculation it was discovered by his doctors that it was “bells palsy” which means weakness of one side of the face, otherwise known as facial paralysis.

He said he noticed it after he returned from the popular squash in Asaba the state capital where he went to play tennis.

Dr. Uduaghan pleaded with Deltans to pray for any person who is ill to recover from it so that God will protect them being ill.

He prayed that God does not transfer the illness to anyone.
 
He said rumour mongering about one ethnic group, traditional ruler, Pastor or church is not good. The governor who acknowledge his imperfection challenged Deltans to pray for one another and his administration to succeed.

He charged traditional rulers to be vigilant in their community. The governor said it has become imperative due to the activities of kidnappers as well as armed robbers in the state.

Dr. Uduaghan tasked Deltans to pray for God’s wisdom for President Goodluck Jonathan to manage the activities of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Fresh Angle can report that the Speaker,Delta State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Victor Ochei, traditional rulers, commissioners, lawmakers as well as the state Chief Judge, Justice Smith graced the occasion.

Meanwhile, the governor has admitted that "his administration is not finishing strong in agriculture."

Dr. Uduaghan who said the state government is finishing strong in the area of education and security assured Deltans that the state is determined to finish strong in all areas including agriculture.

In the area of security, Dr. Uduaghan said proactive steps are being taken to check the activities of kidnappers in the state. He noted that rather than being reactive, the state government has decided to be proactive by identifying places where kidnappers keep victims, arresting of native doctors who work for them and breaking of buildings where kidnappers resides.

The governor commended the state judiciary for being alive to its responsibilities. According to him, Delta State has the highest number of jailed kidnap suspects who have been convicted.

In a message titled “ if anyone be in Christ”, Rev. Simeon Okah charged Christians to be the light anywhere they find themselves.

Rev. Okah who is National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship Of Nigeria, South-South zone , drew his texts from Gen 1: 26-28 and John 1:12-13.

High point of the event was the special Thanksgiving Service by Delta State Government led by Dr. Uduaghan while prayers were also offered for Delta state and his family, the South-South region and Nigeria at large.
