Rotary Club of Warri under District 9141 of Rotary International on Tuesday March 5, celebrated her 40th anniversary, making it exactly four decades the club was chartered with foundational membership of 33 men of different professions.
District Governor, 9141 of Rotary International, Rotn. Oladokun Adeyemi who addressed members of Rotary Club of Warri at an elaborate ceremony held to mark the occasion in the Oil City of Warri, described Rotary Club of Warri as “unique in special ways and I remember with nostalgia, characteristics of Rotary One Chicago”.
DG Adeyemi, while stating that Rotary Club of Warri “is the first club to have two DGs (District Governors) in succession”, admonished Rotarians to be courageous, display high level of dedication, be visible and mobile as well as to develop themselves, if they desire to become District Governors”.

One of the founding members among the “Magnificent 7” of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotarian Isaac Jemide went down memory lane, detailing how young professionals began to meet informally as Rotarians at Palm Groove Motel, Warri in late 1977, before the club became officially chartered 5th March 1979.

Rotn. Jemide mentioned other members of “the Big Seven” who are still active charter members of the club as PDG Ngozi Allanah, PDG Henry Ejumudo, PAG John Gula, Rotn. John Okena-birhie, Rotn. Emmanuel Akhigbe and Rotn. Eddie Yekovie.
President of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotn Happy Apai in his key note remark, thanked members of the club for their commitment and disclosed that between March 22 and March 23 this year, Grants Management Seminar, GMS will be held at Auchi, Edo State, adding that events such as Training Assembly, District Leadership Assembly, DISCON, Warri A-Gain as well as RI Convention in Hambung, Germany, have been lined for the remaining part of 2019.

Fresh Angle International can report that star projects achieved by Rotary Club of Warri since it was chartered, include building of the now popular St. Anne’s Orphanage, sinking of Bore Holes in schools and communities in Warri, building of 23 Shower Heads at Nigerian Prisons, Warri, construction of Centennial Monument at Angle Park Warri, ongoing construction of Ultra-Modern Physiotherapy Centre at Central Hospital Warri as well as the recent training of security personnel on Voluntary Principals on Security and Human Rights, VPSHR in collaboration with LITE-Africa.
