There is growing excitement amongst residents of Warri, Delta State as Solar-Powered light being installed, is already illuminating parts of the city.

Fresh Angle International understands that the impact of the project being executed by the Delta State Government, in unceremonious manner, is already being felt in areas such as Swamp Road, GRA, Esisi Road, NPA By-Pass leading to NPA New Port Gate and Warri Sapele Road, all in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area.

The Senior Special Assistant (Media) to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Dennis Otu, confirmed that the project was being executed by the current administration in Delta State.

Findings by This Newspaper in the last two weeks, revealed that though the project is being extended to neighbouring towns of Warri, Swamp Road, GRA, Esisi Road, NPA By-Pass leading to NPA New Port Gate and Warri Sapele Road, light up immediately night falls and the Solar-Powered Light, automatically switches off as soon as the day brightens.

Unlike the diesel-powered street-lights executed by the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan administration in the past, which suffered recurrent vandalism, the solar-powered light being installed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, may be difficult for vandals to carry out their criminal activities, because the technology was designed in a way that the solar panel and its accompanying power regulating device, are at the pinnacle of the poles erected.

Some residents of the Oil City, who spoke to Our Correspondents, expressed happiness with the development, saying apart from checking criminal activities in major streets at night, the Solar-Powered light, beautifies the city and would go a long way in reviving night life in Warri and environs.
