Tubaba bags Master of Arts in Music in Igbinedion University

Nigeria’s hip-hop star, Innocent Ujah Idibia a.k.a. Tubaba has been honoured with Master of Arts in Music by Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Our Benin City Correspondent reports.

The hip-hop icon also launched two projects: Elections Without Violence in Edo State and Legacy on Musical Artists in Igbinedion University, Okada.

Innocent Ujah said the Masters of Arts in Music awarded to him will renew his zeal in the field of music to touch the lives of Nigerians, mostly the youths.

He stated, “This honour given to me today will renew my zeal to work harder and to become Great Ambassador of Peace to all Nigerians, but mostly to the youths. In the last two years, I have been campaigning as peace ambassador for Nigerians to avoid violence during elections”.

The hip-hop artiste who trilled his fans with his hit track ‘One Love, thanked the Chancellor of the institution, Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion. “I am overwhelmed, excited and grateful because of this honour, but the greatest honour goes to almighty God. Mere words cannot explain how I feel”, Tubaba stated. Tubaba who dedicated the award to his late father, attended the occasion with his lovely wife, Annie Idibia.

Earlier, the Chancellor and Founder of the Institution, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion said 17 years after the institution was registered by the National University Commission (NUC) with registration number 001 on May 10th 1999, the race was set off for the registration of
other 60 universities in the country.

The proprietor of the institution noted, “Edo has over 10 universities, but most of them refuse to engage in studies that relate to the State, but our university has created centre for Edo Studies as well as Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies. Our institution has graduated over 1,000 medical doctors and the first private university in Nigeria to have medical and law faculties”.

Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwole Akande who said due to the competence of the school, the National University Commission (NUC) has accredited all their courses and they were the first private University to get approval to run Masters and
PhD Programmes.

The guest lecturer, Mr. Odia Ofeimun who discussed on Cultural Literacy in a Multiethnic State, opined that any society where the government fails to sponsor students in school up to higher education will suffer diminishing return when they need result, hence Edo State Government
should ensure the youths are adequately assisted educational and in vocational skills.

The Deputy Chancellor of the institution, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion who commissioned the Centre for Edo Studies said it will revive the dying culture of the State.
