As part of activities that will climax with the one year coronation anniversary of The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the respected Monarch today, Sunday September 18 commenced a tour of Itsekiri communities with Abe-Ugborodo, country home of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in Warri North Local Government Area.

The Olu of Warri who was accompanied by prominent Warri Chiefs such as Chief Yahaya Pessu, Chief S. Irone, Chiefs Ayirimi Emami and Thomas Ereyitomi was reportedly received by leaders of Abe-Ugborodo community, including Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan.

According to a source, the Monarch reportedly commended former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for linking Abe-Ugborodo to upland communities through the construction of the Access Bridge and Road, adding that when the right time comes, he will install prominent Chieftaincy title in the Kingdom such as Ologbotsere after following due process, so as to avoid interregnum in the kingdom.

Our Palace source hinted that the next phase of the tour will be at Omadino, Obodo,Ubeji and Egbokodo before he will tour riverine communities after the rainy season ahead of his one -year coronation anniversary December 12.

The revered Monarch allegedly lamented the near-zero representation of Itsekiri in Delta State House of Assembly and enjoined Itsekiri leaders to beam their searchlight on people who are ready to serve at all levels, no matter their financial status, so as to avert the current situation where “only one person”presently represents Itsekiri interest in Delta State House of Assembly.

The Olu also noted that despite his desire to ensure peaceful co-existence with Itsekiri neighbours, he won't accept a situation where Itsekiri Nation is shortchanged to pacify others, like what occurred in the DESOPADEC 2016 budget that just controversially passed by Delta State House of Assembly and accented to by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
