Experts in the engineering profession have tasked their colleagues, particularly those occupying prominent elective government positions to initiate legislations that will enhance efficient service delivery and promote professionalism so as to tackle factories as well as infrastructural failures in Nigeria.

This call was made by President/Chairman-In-Council, Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Engr. Otis Tabugbo Anyaeji, one-time President of the Society, Engr. Joseph E.S. Uujamhan and a seasoned Civil Engineer who popularized the use of pre-cast concrete sheet piles in Nigeria in place of steel sheet piles, Engr. Chris Ekpekurede during the annual dinner and induction/inauguration of 2016/2017 executive committee of Warri Branch of NSE.

While noting that Engineers in prominent Political positions have not taken advantage of the situation, the NSE President enjoined the 114 inductees of the Warri Branch of the Society as well as their senior colleagues to take advantage of “this season of diversification of the economy, because Warri is endowed with industrial facilities”.

Engineer Ekpekurede in a presentation, blamed the abandonment of many projects in the country today on corruption, greed, incompetence and poor customer focus, while Engr. Joseph Uujamhan described quacks in the Engineering profession as those who do not follow the ethics and award jobs to unqualified persons, even as he tasked NSE to discipline erring members.

Wife of Delta State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ebierin Otuaro, a member of NSE, assured Engineers of the State Government’s support.

Earlier in his opening address, the 18th Chairman of NSE Warri Branch, Engr. Joseph Oderohwo Eghwrudje appealed to the new executive of the branch to take up the responsibility of the society’s land in Warri so as to get a positive response from Delta State Government and commended members of the Dinner/Induction Planning Committee led by Engr. V.O. Igbinidu for putting up excellent work towards organization of the event.

Highpoints of the ceremony was the induction of 114 inductees into the Warri Branch of NSE and the inauguration of a new executive of the branch with Engr. G.T.A. Ohwodo as Chairman.
