The Police have ordered the stoppage of illegal collection of revenue at Ogbe-Ijoh Market in Warri, Delta State, Fresh Angle International can report.

The decision to stop the revenue collection was as a result of appeals by the warring parties during a meeting with the Police Area Commander for Warri, ACP Mohammed Muazu and other stakeholders.

The Police Area Commander had ordered the shutdown of the market following increasing skirmish which began Monday with shootout.

The decision to temporarily shut down the market was taken by the Warri Area Commander of the Nigerian Police, ACP Mohammed Muazu today, Tuesday October 4 after a crucial meeting with the parties involved in the crisis and selected stakeholders at Police ‘A’ Division, Warri.

The skirmish which began yesterday, escalated today with reports claiming the Ijaw youths barred traders from doing business in the market and stopped everyone from accessing the market, even as gunshots rented the air before the security agencies took control of the tense situation.

After further appeal, the security agencies through A/C said that all parties should go about their business and no collection of any levy within the market as well as no erection of any structure in the market pending the decision of the government.
