You have neglected 420 Itsekiri amnesty beneficiaries, group accuses Boroh
Brigadier General P.T. Boroh (Rtd)

A Niger Delta group, Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI has accused Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier- General Paul Tarela Boroh, (Rtd) of neglecting about 420 Itsekiri amnesty beneficiaries, saying the situation is further worsened with the non- payment of monthly stipends of four months to “the meager 500” Itsekiri beneficiaries.

In a petition addressed to Brigadier- General P.T. Boroh and made available to Fresh Angle International, INDI explained that 120 of the beneficiaries were billed to embark on post graduate programme in Overseas’ Universities, 200 for skills’ acquisition programme and 100 for aviation training programme within the country, but nothing has been done to address the situation by the new Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty programme.

The petition which was signed by Chairman of Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI, Comrade A.D. Mene and dated October 18, 2016, alleged that all efforts to impress it on the Presidential Amnesty Office to create an Itsekiri Desk to bridge communication gap between the Office and the beneficiaries like other ethnic Nationalities in the Niger Delta have fell on deaf ears despite reports “that 200 beneficiaries have been mobilized for training in Anambra and Enugu with no Itsekiri beneficiaries.”

The group noted with concern that even correspondence written to the Presidential Amnesty Office by the member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju against the perceived biased against Itsekiri beneficiaries was yet to be addressed by Brigadier- General Boroh.

The petition which called the President’s Aide to ensure quick and positive action, copied Palace of the Olu of Warri, Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, Warri Study Group, Warri Federal Constituency Office, Committee on Legislative Compliance (House of Reps) Itsekiri National Youths Council, National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, National Association of Itsekiri Students, Itsekiri Joint Action Group, DG Delta State Security Service, DSS and the Warri Area Command.
