L-R: Ernest, Tony Akponekwe’s with the black sack containing the exhumed corpse & Okiemute Akponekwe before they were taken to the police station

A young man who hails from Orogun in Delta State, Tony Akponekwe and his wife, Okiemute were caught with an exhumed baby in Ekurede Itsekiri Community, Warri at about 5: am Thursday November 3, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

The couple who passed the night at their friend's place in the community claimed they exhumed the baby on the instruction of the Police at 'B' Division in Warri.

According to Mrs. Okiemute Akponekwe, the exhumed baby (a boy) was one of the twins she gave birth to October 5 this year at St. George Clinic, Okumagba Avenue in the heart of Warri.

She alleged that it was their inability to pay the medical bill of N168, 000 after someone took her to the clinic for delivery that made the other of the twins, a baby girl to be taken to an unknown orphanage, purportedly by authorities of the clinic.

The young lady who hails from Orhuworun in Udu Local Government Area, told Our Correspondent that the exhumed baby died before she gave birth to him and as such was handed over to her husband by the clinic authority for burial.

Mr. Tony Akponekwe claimed he had to exhume the corpse on Wednesday November 2 when the police told him he had no right to bury the baby without proper investigation, hence he should come with the exhumed corpse.

He said after showing the remains of the corpse to the police Wednesday (yesterday) he slept at his friend's(Ernest) place in Ekurede Itsekiri with the intent of going to rebury the baby today (Thursday) when they were apprehended by vigilant people in the community.

The couple disclosed they already had three children before the twins were immediately taken to a police station.
