Scoop: Two die at Conoil offshore platform over inhuman condition

Business

Your fast rising International Tabloid, Fresh Angle International has scooped that two Nigerians, one Chief Dan (surname withheld) from Adawele in Uromi, Edo State and a certain Ebikawei Mark, both staff of Godvic Nigeria Limited, a contracting firm to Conoil Offshore platform are believed to have died in the last few months allegedly due to gas they inhaled while working in the company's offshore location.

Our Senior Correspondent also gathered that another of the company's staff identified as Paul Ike allegedly collapsed on board at Mr. P. Conoil platform in Ondo State during the last crew change in October as a result of gas he inhaled.

An Inside Source lamented the perceived lack of concern by the company management towards staff, saying they are compelled to spend more than the stipulated time in the company's offshore location.

While complaining that they are subjected to work in locations situated in Bayelsa and Ondo States, the affected staff appealed to the company to design a new work schedule that will enable them spend two weeks each in and out of work in order to enable them attend to their failing health conditions.

They alleged that Godvic Nigeria Limited was losing capable manpower to other firms due to lack of proper welfare and poor working conditions, just as they claimed that another of their colleague, simply identified as Mr. Clifford, died at the sea due to activities of militants in the Niger Delta.

The company staff appealed to the Federal Ministry of Health, NNPC, DPR, Senate Committee on Oil and Gas to wade into the perceived inhuman condition they work in order to avert more deaths in the Conoil platforms.
