Families release funeral programme of late Chief Pessu, to be interred March 18


The families of Chief Pessu Ebiowa of Pessu Town/Okotomu in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State and Eje Abonika of Itama in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, have released funeral programme for the burial of the departed Ojomo of Warri kingdom, Chief Yayah John Tesigiweno Pessu (JP).

Recall that Chief Yayah John Tesigiweno Pessu, passed on January 14, 2026 after celebrating his 60th marriage anniversary on Saturday November 15, 2025.

According to a statement released Friday March 6 by the family and children of Chief Yayah John Tesigiweno Pessu, the funeral arrangement, will commence Friday March 13 with Service of Songs by 4pm at St. James Anglican Church, 65 Akpakpava Road, Benin City, Edo State.

The statement, which was signed by Solomon Pessu, for the children and Engr. (Dr.) Anthony Pessu for the family, noted as follows:

Friday 13th March 2026

Service of Songs, 4pm at St. James Anglican Church, 65 Akpakpava Road, Benin City, Edo State.

 

Monday March 16, 2026

Traditional Wake keeping (Ukurunmaju) 9pmm at His Residence, 48 Enogie Street, Etete GRA, Benin City, Edo State.

 

Tuesday March 17th 2026

Lying-in-state, 7am at His Residence, 48 Enogie Street, GRA, Benin City, Edo State.

 

Wednesday March 18, 2026

Lying in state 8am at his residence, 26 Odion Road, Pessu Town, Warri, Delta State.

Funeral Service

10am at The Africa Church, Christ Cathedral, 5 Odion Road, Pessu Town, Warri, Delta State

Boat Regatta/interment procession

1pm Departs Pessu Market Jetty to Okotomu-Irigbo, Ode Itsekiri

3pm Interment at His Residence in Okotomu-Irigbo, Ode Itsekiri
