Voice of Warri Kingdom Woman Initiative, VWKWI, has rejected the alleged appointment of manager for Chevron Nigeria Limited’s Ugborodo Tank Farm, demanding the replacement of eight Chevron retirees, who are of Itsekiri extraction, with their kinsmen.
The group, stressed that the oil and gas major, should not drop any Itsekiri in the construction aspect of its offshore operations.
President of Voice of Warri Kingdom Woman Initiative, VWKWI, Mrs. Vivian Eric Mene, who made the demand in a video clip sent to Fresh Angle International, Friday October 16, challenged the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited to show statistics of Itsekirs, Ijaws and Ilajes working in its barge 33.
“Chevron wants to tell us that Itsekiri does not have expatriates, that we don’t have qualified people. Itsekiri will be the last to leave that place. One Itsekiri will never be dropped from that place.
“Is it a crime for Itsekiri to accommodate you people (Chevron) in our land? Itsekiris, we need to protect our kingdom. Youths stand up, women stand up. Itsekiris that retired last year, must be replaced with Itsekiris. Our communities have no light. No Ilaje, Ijaw and Itsekiri will be dropped this time” she, warned.
