Ode-Itsekiri Bridge: Facilitate laying of slabs on concrete props, Warri Monarch tells Okowa
His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli has enjoined Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to facilitate the laying of slabs on the concrete props and pillars intended to connect Ode-Itsekiri to Ajigba, Usele, Orugbo and other adjourning communities, which are part of the Trans Warri Ode-Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads, kick-started by the James Ibori led administration in Delta State.

The Warri Monarch who made the call Tuesday December 12 at Ode-Itsekiri, the traditional headquarters of Itsekiri people in Warri South Local Government Area during “the coronation anniversary day” of his 2nd anniversary celebration, noted that execution of the project will promote trade and commerce between the neighbouring communities.

While disclosing plans to re-organize the Olu-In-Council very soon with a view to bringing in people with greater commitment, greater zeal and ideas, the Olu of Warri stressed that as a way forward for Itsekiri Nation, the Council of Chiefs will work with the leadership of the various Itsekiri communities in a renewed arrangement to usher in peace and development to Warri Kingdom.

He averred that the Olu-In-Council will work closely with the Ode-Itsekiri Management Committee and the Council of Chiefs to roll out a Master Plan for Big Warri in a way befitting a modern capital of Warri Kingdom.

The revered King explained that Ode-Itsekiri New Territories’ Development Committee that will work to ensure strict compliance to the Ode-Itsekiri Master Plan will soon be inaugurated.

On capacity building efforts, he noted that some Itsekiri professionals were recently installed as Chiefs to energize the Warri Council of Chiefs and enjoined critics to have a rethink so as to join hands in building Itsekiri Nation.

Ogiame Ikenwoli while noting that he recently sent a high powered delegation to the management of NDDC to engage and extract commitment from the commission on incomplete projects in his domain, after personally drawing the attention of the Ogidigben Gas Revolution Industrial Park Project, dredging of Escravos bar, completion of Koko-Ogheye Road and other mega projects to the attention of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said he hasn’t bulged on the re-constitution and repositioning of IRDC.

He admitted conceding a lot in the interest of Itsekiri people as it affects IRDC and stressed that the rest is now in the hands of his subjects to demand accountability and hold managers of the IRDC fund responsible so as to ensure rapid development of Itsekiri oil bearing communities.

He tasked the newly inaugurated Austin Oniyesan led IRDC executive to change from the “old idea of building uninhabited two or three bedroom bungalows in un-inhabited communities”, to embarking on mega projects which can be rotated amongst member communities.
