Host communities to Premium Steel and Mines Limited, formerly called Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja has appealed to Udu people to give the company a chance to bring the moribund DSC to life, explaining that the misunderstanding that existed between the company and the host communities in recent weeks was a result of communication gap and that PSML had the best of intentions to get the company to full production status.

In a statement released on Friday morning after a meeting with the management of the company, Chairman and Secretary of the Core Host Communities to PSML, Comrade Emmanuel Kpomanefe and Mr. Lucky Abeyi respectively declared that having been brought into the picture of how some obsolete machines and equipment were laid off in the plant, they have come to the conclusion that the allegations of assets stripping leveled against the company was uncalled for and totally out of place.

They described as unfortunate the misunderstanding that gave room to the allegations, appealing to the company to bridge the communication gap between the company and the host communities through the engagement of Community Liaison Officers for the five core host communities so as to avoid the spread of unfortunate misinformation and avoidable propaganda that could impugn on the integrity of the company.

The communities pledged to henceforth work closely with the company by crosschecking information concerning the company before making same public, adding that the company had good intentions and that with the new trucks and modern digital equipments now in place to replace the old, obsolete and outdated ones, Premium Steel deserves commendation rather than condemnation so that they could be given the enabling environment for the company to operate without let.

They added that from the information gathered from the company, there was going to be a bumper harvest of unimaginable benefits that would accrue to the communities once the entire resuscitation process is completed, urging all Udu and Delta Communities to evolve a synergy with the new investors so that they can bring their good intentions and innovative capabilities to bear on the company for good of all.

‘’We are glad that all the issues raised in our queries have been resolved. The company has demonstrated in clear terms and very convincingly that they meant well and on high gear towards getting the plant revamped. It is unfortunate that we were not properly guided and informed of the true state of things. We are satisfied with the explanation provided by the company top management staff. The future is bright for the company and in no time everything shall be fine. We have lifted all embargoes against the company. We have resolved to support the company to succeed. Everything is okay now’’, the statement added.
