Chevron commissions two cottage hospitals in Delta

Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, operator of the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture has commissioned two cottage hospitals built by Egbema Gbaramutu Communities’ Development Foundation, EGCDF, at Polobubor/Tsekelewu Community in Egbema Kingdom and Oporoza in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas respectively, both in Delta State.

 

In a remark shortly before the commissioning, the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, PGPA, Chevron, Mr. Esimaje Brikinn, commended the current executive of EGCDF for their resolve in fulfilling the objectives of the Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU as well as for consolidating on the solid foundation laid by the previous leadership of Dr. I. C Tola, Edmund Doyah Tiemo and Chief Michael Johnny.

 

Fresh Angle International can report that, Mr. Brikinn who was represented by the Chevron Area Manager PGPA, Warri, Mr. Sam Daibo, appreciated Delta State Government for taking over the hospitals and for enlisting the hospitals among Delta State Contributory Health Scheme that “will provide free Medicare for children under five, pregnant women as well as other capable men/women”.

 

The PGPA Area Manager while noting that Chevron has supported United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, disclosed that since inception of the Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU in 2005, Chevron has invested more than twenty billion naira in over 600 infrastructural projects, provision of scholarships, building of medical facilities as well as agricultural development and human capacity building.

Mr. Daibo commended The Agadagba of Egbema kingdom, Bini Pere III and the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom for their support as well as commitment in actualizing the objectives of the GMoU.

 

Chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities' Development Foundation, EGCDF, Comrade Jude Ebitimi Ukori explained that a total of five hundred and ninety six million naira was spent on both hospitals, commending the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture for making the projects a reality.

 

Comrade Ukori appealed to Egbema and Gbaramatu indigenes to always promote peace and protect CNL/NNPC Joint Venture facilities, advising them to shun illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

 

The Bini Pere of Egbema and Pere of Gbaramatu kingdoms, commended CNL for the projects and assured the Delta State Hospital Management Board of their commitment towards providing conducive environment in their domains for the hospitals to operate.

 

Our Senior Correspondent reports that others who spoke during the two-day commissioning included: Chief of Staff to Delta State Governor, Mr. Tam Brisibe, Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo, Secretary to Warri North Local Government Area, Engr. Victor German, Delta State Director-General, Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Ben Nkechika,   the Fiyewei (Spokesman) of Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama and Secretary EGCDF, Comrade Sheriff Mulade.

 

The two cottage hospitals consist of the main hospital building, Doctors’ quarters, Nurses’ quarters, junior staff quarters, portable water supply, electricity generating plant, perimeter fencing as well as furniture and equipment.
