A 25 -year old man who was alleged to have threatened to adopt the wife of a lecturer in University of Benin, Edo State is currently in Police custody, Fresh Angle has gathered.
The suspect, John Andrew Imona was alleged to have sent text messages to the woman requesting for some amount of money or risk being kidnapped, raped and murdered. However, through convert information, the Police swooped on the suspect around Lucky Way in Benin City. The suspect who reportedly confessed to the crime attributed his action to poverty.
Meanwhile Edo State police command has paraded 29 suspected criminals alleged to have been involved in crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child defilement and unlawful possession of fire arms.
Our Benin City Correspondent reports that one of the suspects, Osarumwese Ogbeide in collaboration with his gang members is allegedly responsible for the kidnap of his wife’s elder sister’s husband, who came from Holland. The victim who came from Holland was taken into captivity for three days somewhere around Isihor near Benin City, Edo State. Through a team of investigators acting on credible intelligence the suspects were rounded up.
