The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a workshop where stolen vehicles' are refurbished before they are sold to unsuspecting buyers, Fresh Angle can report.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikechukwu Aduba who dropped the hint at a press briefing in Asaba, the State Capital on Thursday January 30 also disclosed that the command has arrested five suspects, Kelechukwu Okoye(M),Chidiebere Owuse(M),Ekemefuna Odenigbo(M),Nzube Eze(M) and Chinedu Agulobe(M) in connection with the crime.
According to CP Ikechukwu Aduba, the workshop which is located at .F. Okoji Ndah Close off Amb. Leo Okogu Street, Asaba was discovered on 29/01/2014 following an information received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO)"C" Division Asaba that one Toyota Hilander jeep with Registration Number AKD703AE(Lagos) was snatched at gun point from one Mrs. Uche Osigwe(F) at Ozo-Odogwu, opposite phase 6 Trans-Ekulu area in Enugu.
He noted that immediately they received alert, they swung into action and arrested the five suspects.
Items recovered at the scene include the snatched Highlander jeep with Reg. No.AKD 703AE (Lagos),L300 Mitsubishi bus with Reg.No.EG743GGE(Lagos) and thirteen other vehicles, several plate numbers as well as instruments used for panel beating and painting of vehicles.
While assuring that the command will not allow state to become a hiding place for criminals, CP Ikechukwu Aduba said the suspects are helping the police in its investigation, adding that they would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
