There are indications that the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei, may have resigned his position.
Ochei, who represents Aniocha North Constituency in the state Assembly, is one of the governorship aspirants in the state in 2015.
Sources told Correspondents that he decided to resign following alleged report that no fewer than 19 members of the 29-member House have signed an impeachment notice against him, pending the resumption of sitting on Tuesday March 18, which is the House's next sitting.
Reasons for the impeachment move were still sketchy at press time.
Although there is no official confirmation to the resignation, but a highly-placed Peoples Democratic Party member told our reporter on phone on Sunday: 'What confirmation are you waiting for? He has resigned.'
It was also gathered that the embattled Ochei had called his aides and addressed them on the development.
None of his aides volunteered to speak as at press time.
However, Ochei was reported to have dismissed it as a rumour, saying that he would be attending the signing of this year's budget at Government House, Asaba on Monday.
The ceremony is to be performed by the state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
