The Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Delta State Government, via the Office of the State Commissioner Bureau for Special Duties, overseeing the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA and the Executive Council of Warri South Local Government Area, have instituted process that would lead to the compensation of victims of the fire that destroyed properties and goods, valued at several millions of naira in Igbudu Market, Warri, weekend.
The hint was dropped Tuesday August 18 by Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Omamofe Joseph Pirah, when the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi and other members of Warri South Council Executive, led the Commissioner, Officials of NEMA and SEMA to the scene of the recent Igbudu Market fire.
Hon. Pirah, who explained that the working visit was to sympathize with the victims (traders) and ascertain the extent of damage caused by the inferno, assured that the findings would be communicated to the appropriate authorities, with a view to mitigate the sufferings of the affected traders, following the losses they incurred.
