Newly elected President of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE Student Union Government, Comrade Emakunu Christopher has promised that his leadership will redefine unionism in the institution, even as he advised students in the school to respect the rules and regulations set down by management.
Comrade Emakunu who spoke shortly after his election which was conducted under strict supervision of FUPRE authorities, including Dean of Students Affairs, Rev. Dr. Joachim Ukutsemuya represented by Mrs. Okocha Maria and the institution’s Chief Security Officer, Lt. Col. AA Adedokun (Rtd.) enjoined students of FUPRE to shun cultism and other negative vices inimical to their academic pursuit.
The SUG newly elected PRO, Oni Joseph Yusuf who also spoke to Fresh Angle in an exclusive chat commended the transparent manner the management of the institution conducted the election.
Our Correspondent who covered the election reports that Sindi Chigozie, a 300 level student who emerged as the SUG Treasurer was among those elected in the new SUG executive to pilot the students’ affairs for 2013/2014 academic session.
Chairman of the institution’s Independent Students Electoral Commission, ISEC, Sanni Awwal described the election as the most peaceful ever conducted since the inception of FUPRE.
