Traders in Polokor Market, Warri have rained curses on Delta State government over Wednesday April 23 demolition exercise carried out in the market by the Delta State Special Task Force on Environmental Sanitation.
When Fresh Anglevisited, the Onofeghara street junction of the Market had been completely demolished by the task force, while some of the traders who could not hold themselves over their losses started throwing stones on some of the security operatives attached to the special task force.
A mobile policeman attached to the special task force had to disperse the aggrieved traders with tear gas canisters to prevent the situation from degenerating into a breakdown of law and order.
One of the traders who identified herself as Ejiro told Fresh Angle that she just spent hundred thousand naira in the construction of her shop before the demolition.
Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Special Duties, Mr. Matthew Poko Opuoru disclosed to Our Senior Correspondent that there are plans to demolish all illegal structures in Okumagba Layout so as to give Warri a facelift.
