An unidentified fleeing armed robbery suspect was at about 12:30pm today (May 28, 2014) shot dead by a mobile policeman attached to a construction firm, CCC camp at Ada Val Arenyeka Street, Ugbuwangue, Warri, Fresh Angle can authoritatively report.

The robbery suspect was shot by the mobile policeman after he missed his way into the Val Arenyeka Street at Ugbuwangue linking to neighboring Ogunu following a chase by security details that ran into the members of the gang robbing their victim, one Felicity Oduone after the Ogunu flyover by the front of Lakeland Schools, Warri.

Fresh Angle gathered from eye witnesses that the robbery suspect met his waterloo when Mr. Felicity Oduone whose car key was already with the dead armed robbery suspect went to his house few metres away in the outskirts of New World City, Ugbuwangue to collect his car spare key when he sighted the fleeing robber.

It was the alarm he raised alongside the gun shots that attracted the mobile policeman attached to the construction firm. The mobile policeman immediately chased the unidentified robbery suspect who had a failed attempt to fly pass a perimeter fence close to CCC camp.

The policeman immediately ordered the well dressed young robbery suspect to lie down as he drew close to him. The robbery suspect who pretended to be obeying the order while on the sandy floor allegedly attempted to dive the policeman armed with AK47 riffle, ostensibly to overpower him for possible escape when the agile policeman shifted a little backward and opened fire on the suspect who died on the spot. The car key of the robbery victim, Mr. Felicity Oduone was found in the pocket of the armed robber after he was gunned down.

Reports say another member of the gang who was also on the run was arrested by policemen.

Speaking exclusively to Fresh Angle on the incident, the victim, Mr. Felicity Oduone said he was returning from a bank where he went to withdraw money when the robbery gang waylaid him with two Toyota Camry cars after the Ogunu Flyover, few metres away from where he was suppose to negotiate a bend to the access road leading to the outskirts of New World City, Ugbuwangue where he resides.

According to Mr. Oduone, members of the gang who waylaid his dark blue Volkswagen car, asked him where he kept the money he went to withdraw from the bank. He smartly deceived the robbers that he kept the money inside his car booth even though the money was inside the car. This was after one of the robbery suspects(the suspect who was killed) had collected the car key he was using with him.

While the quick raid was going on, Mr. Oduone said he sighted mobile policemen on patrol coming from the Ogunu community end of the road and immediately raised alarm which attracted the patrol team. He further explained that it was the alarm he raised that made members of the gang, some of whom were outside their Camry cars to scamper for safety into different directions. It was in that process that the suspect who held Mr. Odune’s car key ran into the Val Arenyeka Street close to Mr. Oduone’s house where he met his waterloo.

Fresh Angle can however report that save for Mr. Felicity Oduone’s car key that was found in the pocket of the robbery suspect, no arm was found in his possession.

As at the time of filling this report, the corpse of the robbery suspect had been taking away by a police patrol team who also asked Mr. Oduone to come along with his car to the police station for further investigation.
